EVERYBODY HAS A BEAUTIFUL VOICE:
Yes, E V E R Y B O D Y. That includes you. If you can speak, you can sing, and if you enjoy singing, you can learn to improve your singing skills. There is an incorrect myth going around that only people with "innate talent" can sing. It's not true. I have a track record of helping everybody improve, get a better sound, feel more confident as well as increase their range. I hold a Master's Degree in Vocal Pedagogy (the science of how to teach singing). This degree does not exist in Australia, so I have something very special to offer all my students here. The fact that I'm trained to teach makes a big difference in how you will improve your voice in a healthy and safe way! |

If someone tells you you can't sing, it's not true. Protect yourself: read this.
You fear you might be tone deaf? Very few people are. Take this test and get your badge!
"My daughter is 13 and just started voice lessons. Lorraine is incredibly encouraging. She is teaching my daughter techniques which after three lessons, I already see huge improvements." ~ Dayna W.

VARIETY OF STYLES:
I love teaching a variety of styles. While I studied classical singing, I've also studied contemporary styles using Seth Rigg's Speech Level Singing approach and have completed level 1 and 2 training in the Jo Estill method. I teach singing to students of all ages, and will help you gain a valuable knowledge about your instrument as well as teach how to achieve your goals and sing with the types of sounds you are hoping for. If you live in the Yeppoon area: Barlows Hill, Pacific Heights, Barmaryee, Taroomball, Taranganba, Rosslyn, Cooee Bay, Lammermoor, Kinka Beach, Emu Park, Rockhampton, I'm just a step and a skip away! |
"Ms Lorraine is a most wonderful music teacher. My children responded magically to her calm, loving approach. She balances a combination of practical and theory work with the children, that serves to keep them engaged and advance their understanding of the music. She expertly keeps the kids invested and excited about music in general." ~ Amanda B.

FOR THE YOUNGER STUDENTS:
I am a firm believer in providing young children with much more than just vocal skills. In order to become a good musician, one also needs to develop other capacities: dedication to practicing, commitment to the learning process, patience with one's self as one progresses, sense of musicality to express the music, focus and accuracy and much much more. Using the language of virtues in my teaching is based on the Virtues Project, a programme renown worldwide that was honoured by the United Nations as a "model global program for families of all cultures". |
"Even when the kids would struggle, she always points out the value in hard work and the virtues associated with it. The benefit of Ms Lorraine's instruction exceeds the mastery of music, it lends itself to the establishment of work ethic, fortifies the substructure of self-esteem and nurtures the goodness of spirit. That is truly unique." ~ Amanda B.

COACHING FOR CHOIRS AND SINGING GROUPS:
I also provide vocal coaching for choirs, singing groups, bands, or any vocal ensemble. I can help your group rework and bring new life to old songs, bring your performance to higher levels of quality and teach you vocal techniques to achieve better tone and a variety of sound qualities. |
"Many thanks for delivering such an energetic, knowledgeable, warm-hearted vocal workshop last Thursday. I could see by the keen attention paid and questions asked that your messages were getting through loud and clear.”
~ David Kram, Music Director of the Melbourne Chamber Choir, October 2017 |
WHY STUDY MUSIC?
Because learning music makes kids smarter and playing an instrument (your voice is considered an instrument) benefits your brain. “Not only do they gain enjoyment and reward from making and listening to music, but research also shows that learning music can lead to improved student engagement at school and enhanced social wellbeing,” said Mrs Kronberg, chair of the Victorian Parliament’s Education and Training Committee (read the media release or full report). Other reasons can be found here. |
